85th Omas Anniversary
1925 – 2010. Eighty- five years of hand-crafted writing instruments.
1925. Sir Armando Simoni founded Omas (Officina Meccanica Armando Simoni)
1930. It’s the year of birth of Arte Italiana collection that immediately states itself as icon of the Italian Design in the world of luxury writing instruments.
The design resembles a twelve sided Doric column and provides a precise grip to enhance the pleasure of writing. The Arte Italiana Collection is the perfect combination of refinement and practicality.
Arte Italiana has never gone out of production. During all this years this collection has been reinterpreted in the sizes, in the colours and the materials even keeping its unchanged classic taste, so elegant that it made it a must among collectors and enthusiasts.
Fusion Limited Edition through the Arte Italiana model wants to be a tribute not just for this writing instrument and for Sir Armando Simoni’s talent. It wants also to be a tribute for Omas history, always interpreted by the noble materials which exalt the design and which are indissoluble tied up to an important moment of this Maison Bolognese.
Realized with exclusive working methods and machineries, this extraordinary collectible item, which melted together part of the past and present creating an icon and a timeless style, it has been produced using all that natural materials. The use of these materials has signed the history of Omas and its own masterpieces.
Therefore a pen with strong, suggestive and celebrating personality.
Omas pens seduce you with their extraordinary balance, polished shine, and surprisingly pleasant feel.
Omas guarantees these characteristics by using rare and difficult to work natural raw materials like Cotton Resin, Celluloid, Woods, Titanium, Gold or Silver. Six precious materials that we find in the Fusion Limited Edition.
Cotton Resin is of vegetable origin and pleasant to the touch. It has excellent mechanical characteristics and it is resilient and impact reactant. Cotton Resin also has a very shiny surface allowing excellent colour definition. These colours are specially researched, created and tested in Omas own laboratories.
Its resistance, extremely higher then a common thermoplastic material and its endless chromatic possibility, make Cotton Resin a very appreciate material in the writing instrument world. This material is an historical part of Omas production. The colour choosen for this Limited Edition is an elegant Black.
Omas confirms his preference for natural materials choosing Wood to realize some exclusive collections. Extremely sensual and precious, selected among the most rare and valuable essences, Wood requests a particularly long and accurate hand-craft manufacturing that can guarantee a surprising result.
Each writing instrument can be considered a unique piece for its own wood nuance, just the experience and the knowledge of Omas can offer a product that is so truly exclusive.
The Black Ebony that we present in Fusion Limited Edition is an exceptional and definitely refined material.
Armando Simoni used ebonite to indulge his whims in elegant decorations that gave rise to what would become the Omas style: clean lines, well calculated proportions, a classic look and elegance, but the range of colours available with ebonite was a considerable hindrance for him.
Celluloid, on the other hand, enabled him to work with incredibly beautiful shades. A wonderfully talented technician as well as an aesthete, the founder of Omas realized immediately that his material would provide the best of those qualities required in the making of a perfect fountain pen: lightness, resistance to impact and pressure, resistance to heat, no reaction to ink, very pleasing to the touch and bright refined colours. Once he had overcome the problems of size instability and colour changes that had conditioned his competitors and then forced them to look towards other materials, he unveiled his first collection in 1929 thanks to a production process invented by him, jealously guarded and still used today.
The production cycles is also the stuff of legend. Depending on the model, it could exceed 350 days.
The refine tonality of the Fusion is the Mother-of-Pearl Grey, with its deep and delicate shades.
The concept of what is precious has changed over the years, adapting to different technical revolutions. With Titanium models, Omas has orchestrated the meeting of high-tech and pure tradition.
After two years of design and engineering, the models were launched in the 2000. Omas devised original technical solutions and chose to work on T2, an extremely pure form of Titanium containing 2% oxygen and hydrogen.
The velvety feel of Titanium and its intense grey appearance are the most striking features of Omas Titanium and represent a true innovation in the world of fountain pens..
The Titanium is present in the barrel and in the cap of the Fusion Limited Edition, and it’s the only material in the clip where the engraving Omas stands out .
The Limited Edition wouldn’t be complete without precious materials like Silver and Gold, the great classics that have always marked Omas Limited Editions history, they are present in the barrel and in the Gold 18K nib.
Fusion Limited Edition, entirely realized in Bologna laboratories, celebrates the past but also the future, with its refined design and its innovative filling system, it can be considered very revolutionary in the fountain pen field.
Noble materials, exclusive design, hand-crafted production, strong historical heritage of the Maison Bolognese are the values around which Fusion Limited Edition has been conceived.
